Hi Member,
I'm sure you have read by now that the FTC is requiring new
methods of disclosure for affiliate marketing and testimonials.
Many members have been asking what should be done in relation to
the affiliate sites we are building at Blog A Month Club. I've
waited until now to broach this subject in order to study the
various opinions and interpretations of the policy.
First I would say, do not panic over this issue. It's
a headache for sure, but it's something that we will all need to
absorb into our "cost of doing business" budget and mindset. We
have until December 1st to get disclaimers on your sites.
Many members have sent messages asking what WE will do to make
blogs compliant. This is more about what YOU need to do and how
we can help. We can only make suggestions and install disclaimers
that you approve.
Before I make recommendations I have to start by giving my own
disclaimer. Ideally you would contact your own lawyer experienced
with FTC issues and the law and have that lawyer create your
disclosure statements. I'm not a lawyer and I can't give you real
legal advice. The comments below represent what we will be doing
for our own sites along with the information we will be using to
achieve what we think is the appropriate compliance based on
common interpretation of FTC rules.
In a nutshell here is what you can do to bring your current and
future sites into compliance, or at least as compliant as
possible considering the vague nature of the FTC rules.
1. Visit the following site of my friend Len Thurmond and read
his interpretation of the FTC rules that are very much in line
with my own understanding of the subject.
http://lenthurmond.com
Len sells a product that you may want to own that can help with
the FTC compliance and many other disclaimer requirements for
your web sites. Yes, it is something else to be purchased. All I
can say is that it's optional, but it's important. You need to
protect yourself, your family and your business. Whether you
eventually contact a lawyer or not, this will at the very least
provide some immediate protection and demonstrate your
efforts to be compliant.
I'm an affiliate for AutoWebLawPRO. The regular cost is $147.00.
I am waiving 100% of my affiliate commission for you, and
Len has agreed to reduced the cost further so you can get this
system for $67.00. Here is the link to get the discount and read
more about it: http://x15a.com/AutoWebLawPRO .
Please do not share this link.

If you are unable to make this purchase, you may be able to find
pre-made or auto-generating disclaimers for little or no cost. A
search of Google will yield many sites and resources on the
subject. Here is one such generator: http://disclosurepolicy.org/
It's very easy to use. We will install disclaimers it generates
and that you approve on each of your sites, but understand we can't
say with certainty if the disclaimer is strong enough.
Either buy Len's product or provide your own disclosure
statements. Post them to the project manager and we will install
them on your current and future web sites. If you purchase
AutoWebLawPRO, post your access information in the project
manager.

FTC policies for affiliate marketing and testimonials.

If you have questions or comments please post them to the help
desk at https://psybercore.com/members/submitticket.php .
While we have more than a month to make the sites compliant, plan
on making a decision on where you will get your disclaimers
within the next two weeks so we have time to get them installed
before the deadline.
Thank You for reading,
Steve
